Continuity of supports

Business as usual whenever possible

During an emergency or disaster, it is important that NDIS Providers operate as usual as far as that is possible.

Continuing to support NDIS Participants during an emergency or disaster will look different each NDIS Provider.

For some providers, who only provide intermittent support to people, service may be suspended until the crisis has passed.

For others who provide higher intensity supports, emergency management plans may have to be implemented, including any alternative support arrangements that may have been agreed with your NDIS Participants.

Learn about proportionate risk and how it applies to your organisation with this fact sheet and case study.

Most important is that you have had this conversation with your NDIS Participants before an emergency or disaster happens and documented a plan for each person.

Emergencies are often unpredictable and stressful. Try to stay calm so you can keep yourself and others safe.

Take a look at this checklist from Ember for a quick guide on what support staff should take with them when evacuating in an emergency of disaster.
