Stay informed
The ABC is Australia’s national emergency broadcaster. It is the best place to go and find information about emergencies and disasters happening right now.
Contact details for state and territory emergency services and other useful organisations and resources, as well as alerts for what is happening in your area, are on the ABC Emergency website.
Your local ABC radio station will also broadcast critical information during an emergency or disaster. Check out the ABC Reception website to find your local ABC radio frequency.

Let people know you are safe
The Australian Red Cross manages a service called Register.Find.Reunite. It only operates during emergencies, including bushfires and floods.
It is a service that lets family, friends and emergency services know that you are safe when an emergency happens in case you cannot do that yourself – like if your phone is not working.
For more information about how it works, including how to register, go to the Red Cross website,
