Work with community partners

Resilient Community Organisations

The Resilient Community Organisations is a toolkit developed by and for the community sector to help organisations measure and improve their resilience to disasters and emergencies.

A theme throughout these resources is that connecting with and learning from other community organisations builds resilience.

From sharing resources, to partnering to develop workforce contingency plans, collaborating to manage emergencies and disasters is smart business.

To learn more and use the associated resources, go to the Australian Council on Social Services (ACOSS) Resilience website.

Six steps to resilience resources

Connect your NDIS Participants

Support your NDIS Participants to prepare for emergencies and disasters by connecting them with local community services and resources that are relevant to their individual culture or background.

Some examples of community organisations that may provide useful services, groups and resources are:

  • Local Council
  • Local Multicultural Centres
  • Local Neighbourhood Centres
  • Disability Advocacy groups

You could also run a Streetmate campaign.

Find information on the Ember website about how to make people more aware of people in their community who may living with disability and may need extra support in a crisis like a fire or flood.
